Description
Muscles and joints love heat. It is commonly used before and after activity as well as to promote general relaxation of the muscles. It is also used regularly in clinical settings to address soft tissue injury and promote rehabilitation. Research has demonstrated that heat applied before activity can restrict the degree of muscle soreness experienced afterwards. It’s use before exercise has also been shown to speed up the recovery and restoration of muscle function after the activity. There is also some evidence that the application of heat after exercise may enhance the benefits of strength training and the improvement of muscle mass. It is generally agreed that heat therapy offers better relief from DOMS (delayed onset of muscle soreness) than cold therapy.
