Between your shoulder and the tip of your fingers there are 31 bones (including your scapula) that articulate together to allow movement. 27 of these are in your hand. The four in your arm are your scapula, humerus, radius and ulna.
There are a total of 27 joints in your hand – the same as the number of bones. All these joints have cartilage lined articular surfaces and are held together by more than 123 ligaments.
